Will You Be My Valentine?
Did you know that there is also a Chinese Valentine’s Day? also known as the Qixi Festival. The legend revolves around the romance of Zhinü, the weaver girl, and Niulang, the cowherd. Zhinü descended to earth and defied the rules of heaven by falling in love with the mortal Niulang. Their love was forbidden and therefore were both exiled to opposite ends of the celestial river. Once a year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, a flock of birds would create a bridge to reunite the lovers for one single day, and today is that very special day.
