Coo-Coo 043《

DRAMA ▎135 MINS ▎CHAN Ching Lin ▎2022 RISTRICTED

Coo-Coo 043 won the Best Narrative Feature at the 59th Golden Horse Awards. The director and crew took a fictional and artistic approach to leverage pigeon racing as a metaphor. Comparing the pigeon 043 and the missing son, while the racing pigeons soar away, the family continues to sink downwards

The director and the crew presented the complex family relationship through delicate scenes and writing. Every snapshot of their faces tells an emotion of attachment and helplessness. A father who resorts to finding hope and direction through the wings and the homing instincts of pigeons. A missing child, who was free and untethered, became attached to the protagonist’s family due to the racing pigeon industry. A traditional, simple and hard-working mother became the force that is holding up the slowly disintegrating family. A rebellious teenage girl, who felt caged like a pigeon after living under the trauma of her brother gone missing.
