Synopsis : For 20+ years, Mama Yang, a Taiwanese immigrant, has written to NY inmates, while struggling to connect with her troubled granddaughter, Ellen, amid family tragedies. The documentary "Come Home, My Child" follows Mama Yang, wheelchair-bound Barbara who teaches inmates piano, and Haiguang Zheng, an inmate whose mother fights for his release. Over a decade, the film shows Mama Yang's impact, Barbara's healing through music, and Haiguang's mother's fight. Ultimately, Mama Yang and Ellen find reconciliation. The film highlights love's power to liberate souls, showing how "walls may keep you in, but love can set you free."
